Dear All, we would like to draw your attention (especially EE, MAT and ME students) to this course.

Math 206 Vector Calculus:  3 credits

Roughly speaking, vector calculus is the generalization of calculus concepts to more complicated cases. It is an important tool for many branches of science and engineering. Vector calculus enables us to formulate physical concepts in mathematical terms, derive new equations and make relevant computations.

We will go through the last part of the calculus texbook not covered in Math 102 with some additional material.

There be two midterms, homework and a takehome project type final exam.

Contents:
1.    Multiple integrals. Change of variables formula.
2.    Curvilinear coordinates. Inverse and implicit function theorems.
3.    Parameterization: Curves, vector fields, surfaces.
4.    Line integrals. Gradient fields. Green’s theorem.
5.    Surface integrals. Flux.
6.    Calculus of vector fields: Curl, divergence. Stokes’ and Gauss’ theorems.
7.    Applications.
